Li Bao was born of Jian Li’s memories of the wonderful steamed buns from her hometown of Tianjin.She returned to Tianjin to learn and master the making of these bao.She then returned to Los Angeles to share her recreations of these traditional Tianjin buns. In 2023, she opened “Li Bao”, obtaining all the required business and hygiene certifications to sell her bao. She regularly sells out of these delicious bao each Friday at the Monrovia Farmer’s Market. Li Bao was also a vendor at the La Canada Chinese New Year celebration in 2024. Li Bao reflects Jian’s love of her native city of Tianjin and her desire to share her creations with the people of Los Angeles and beyond.
